The Florida Everglades is the only place where the American Alligator and the American Crocodile call home!

The state of Florida has over 1,700 rivers, streams and creeks. There are more than 4,500 islands surrounding the mainland. The Florida Everglades is approximately 5,000 square miles.  Imagine how many pesky varmints there are!

The Black Racer is a non-venomous snake that is extremely fast. The 'racer' part of the name comes from the fact that these snakes bolt away from humans or other predators when they feel they are not able to defeat them.

The Roseate Spoonbill often gets mistaken for the Flamingo because they are both pink! They get their color from the food they eat.

Fact or Fiction? In Florida, moss only grows on the north-side of a palm tree.

Opossums have 50 teeth! More than any other mammal in North America.

Florida designated the Mockingbird as the official state bird in 1927.

The Florida Bobcat can live up to 14 years in the wild. They coexist with the Florida Panther because the two do not share prey.
